Loom vs Vidyard vs ScreenStudio – which screen recording tool for work?

Need to record product demos and bug reports. Current workflow is text which is painful.

What’s important:

  • Quality – need to see code clearly
  • Editing – trim start/end
  • Sharing – easy embed/link
  • Thumbnail – auto-generated?

Loom is expensive for teams. Vidyard is business-focused. ScreenStudio looks promising.

For async team communication – what’s best?

Coolify vs Portainer vs Yacht – which self-hosted Docker dashboard?

Want to self-host more of our stack but don’t want to use CLI for everything. Looking for a good Docker management UI.

Found these three – which one is actually good?

  • Coolify – seems popular for self-hosting apps
  • Portainer – classic choice, been around
  • Yacht – newer, looks modern

Our needs:

  • Easy container management
  • Log viewing
  • Resource monitoring
  • Multi-server support (we have 2 VPS)

Is self-hosting worth the maintenance or should we just use managed services?

Slack vs Discord vs Microsoft Teams – which for startup team comms?

Our startup is reevaluating our communication tools. Currently on Slack but it’s getting expensive and wondering if we’re overpaying.

Team: 15 people, mix of engineering, design, and operations

What we need:

  • Good threading (Slack wins here?)
  • Video calls (all three have)
  • Integrations (Slack has most)
  • Affordable (Discord/Teams are cheaper)

Is Discord ready for serious team work or still too gaming-focused? Teams feels corporate af 😩

Re: Notion vs Craft – which note-taking app actually works for real work?

I’ve used all three. Here’s the deal:

Notion – Good for teams, bad for personal use. Too slow, too much clutter. The free tier is limited.

Obsidian – Amazing for personal knowledge management. The local-first approach is great for privacy. But sharing is painful.

Craft – The most beautiful. But I’m worried about vendor lock-in. What if they shut down?

My setup: Notion for team stuff, Obsidian for personal. Worth the switch? Only if Notion frustrates you.

Notion vs Craft – which note-taking app actually works for real work?

Okay I know there’s been tons of these comparisons but hear me out 😅

I’m a freelance writer and I need something for:

  • Client project notes
  • My own article drafts
  • Some personal life stuff

I’ve tried Notion before and it felt… slow? Like everything takes too many clicks.

Someone recommended Craft and it looks gorgeous but I’m worried about:

  • Is it stable enough for real work?
  • What if they go out of business?
  • Can I export my data easily?

Thoughts??
