our team is growing and we need better project management.
we currently use… nothing lol. literally using Slack for everything.
narrowed it down to:
- Linear – developer-first, beautiful, fast
- Notion – all-in-one, but can get messy
- Todoist – simple, tried and true
5 person startup. what would you pick? 🚀
solid stack! we use similar stuff.
suggestions:
- Paddle instead of Lemon Squeezy if you’re global (better currency handling)
- Plunk for analytics (simpler than PostHeg)
$47 MRR is real start. congrats! 🚀
great thread! here are my picks:
- Notion AI – better than people think for writing help
- Mem – AI notes that organize themselves
- Copilot – for code, underrated compared to ChatGPT
the “underrated” ones are usually just less famous, not less useful 💡
been designing for 10 years. here are my non-negotiable tools:
must-haves:
- Figma – obviously
- Coolors – color palettes in seconds
- Remove.bg – bg removal that actually works
- Ray.so – mockups without the headache
- Google Fonts – free, reliable
controversial take: you don’t need paid tools to make great designs.
most of these are free. skills > tools.
full stack dev who made this mistake twice. learn from me:
DON’T do headless WP unless you have a good reason.
we did WP + NextJS. looked cool on paper. reality:
- 2x maintenance
- API latency issues
- plugin conflicts
- more $$ to host
now we use traditional WP + custom theme. so much happier.
headless is great for apps. for content sites? overengineered.
daily Figma user here. used Sketch for 4 years before switching.
my take:
- Figma – best overall. browser = works anywhere. $15/mo is nothing.
- Sketch – mac only, stopped innovating. why?
- Adobe XD – adobe killed it. literally no reason to use.
just use Figma. every design job listing asks for it. you’re not doing yourself any favors by learning something else.
productivity nerd checking in. tried basically all of them.
ranked for 2026:
- Obsidian – local first, plugins are crazy, free forever
- Notion – best for teams, AI features are actually useful now
- Apple Notes – underrated, fast, apple ecosystem = seamless
- Craft – pretty but expensive for what it is
hot take: the “best” app is the one that doesn’t make you think. if Notion loads slow and annoys you, Obsidian might be better even if it’s “worse”.
try them all for a week. you’ll know which one fits your brain ðŸ§
dev who uses all three daily here.
TL;DR:
- Midjourney – best quality, artistic style. needs Discord. subscription worth it for projs
- DALL-E – integrated with ChatGPT, safest for commercial, most consistent
- Stable Diffusion – free, local, customizable. but needs GPU and time to set up
my workflow:
quick mockups → DALL-E
artistic stuff → Midjourney
batch generation / custom models → SD
the “best” one depends on your use case. all 3 are legit in 2026.
senior dev here. short answer: it depends but here’s my take:
React – still king, biggest ecosystem, most jobs. learn this if you want job security.
Vue – easier learning curve, great docs, chinese community is huge (means good libraries). good choice if you want fast shipping.
Solid – performance is INSANE, signals are the future, but smaller ecosystem. early adopter tax.
Angular – enterprise land, lot of boilerplate, but very structured. good if you like strict patterns.
my recommendation for 2026: learn React or Vue, understand signals (solid/vue way), adapt from there.
frameworks come and go. fundamentals stay forever.
dev here who’s used all three since 2019. short answer: Figma unless you have a specific reason not to.
Why Figma wins:
- browser-first = works everywhere
- real-time collab is just better
- way more plugins/resources
- their AI features in 2026 are actually useful now
Sketch: mac only, was king before Figma ate its lunch
Adobe XD: adobe killed it, just move on lol
save yourself the analysis paralysis and just use Figma. literally every team i know uses it.
