Best free database for hobby projects – what you using?

0

Building some side projects and dont wanna pay for DB yet lol

Supabase free tier vs Neon vs PlanetScale – which one has the best free plan??

Student budget here 😅

Neon is the move in 2026! Here’s why:

Neon – Serverless PostgreSQL. You only pay for what you use. Free tier is super generous. Branching is killer for testing.

Supabase – Also great, but Neon feels more ” Postgres-native” if that makes sense.

PlanetScale – MySQL compatible, but they’ve been having some issues lately.

For hobby projects: Neon or Supabase. You literally can’t go wrong with either.

Neon is great if you just need Postgres. Their free tier is actually unlimited for 1 project which is insane

Supabase free tier is generous af! 500MB storage, auth included, its perfect for side projects

Been using it for 3 hobby projects already
