Figma vs Sketch in 2026 – is Sketch still worth it?

Freelance designer here, been on Sketch for years but clients keep asking if I use Figma.

Is Figma that much better? Sketch is solid and I know it well. Worth the switch?

Sketch user here – not planning to switch yet.

Its not dead, just slower updates. The community is still active, plugins are great. If you already know Sketch well, no need to learn new tool just for the sake of it.

But for NEW designers? Start with Figma. The industry moved on.

Made the switch from Sketch to Figma 2 years ago, never looked back.

Figma is free for individuals (up to 3 projects), works in browser (no Mac-only!), and collaboration is WAY better. The prototyping is also more intuitive.

Sketch still works fine but honestly Figma won. Most new jobs list Figma, not Sketch.
