Stripe vs Paddle vs LemonSqueezy – payments for indie hackers

0

Indie hacker here! Launching my first paid product and need to pick a payments provider.

The big players seem to be Stripe, Paddle, and LemonSqueezy but I have no idea which to choose:

  • Stripe is the standard but dealing with taxes/invoicing is painful
  • Paddle handles taxes for you but takes a bigger cut?
  • LemonSqueezy seems like the indie-favorite but newer

What’s your experience? I’m based in the US if that matters. Thanks! 💪

Stripe gang represent! 💳

I know LS is popular now but Stripe is still the standard:

– More integrations
– Better docs
– Established, reliable

The tax thing is annoying but there’s now Stripe Tax (costs extra but works).

If you’re serious about payments, Stripe. The dev experience is unmatched. 🔥

LemonSqueezy for indie hackers! 🍋

Used all three for different projects:

Stripe – Powerful but complex. You’re basically running your own business. Good docs but taxes are on you.

Paddle – They handle everything but the fees are higher. Good for enterprise, painful for small biz.

LemonSqueezy – Best of both worlds! They handle taxes, invoices, and payments. Indie-friendly pricing. The API is clean too.

My pick: LemonSqueezy. It’s literally made for indie hackers. 💪
